The Hidden Curriculum of Three Year Olds

Tonight at dinner Katherine was eating pasta. She took a huge drink of water and - now, with both pasta and water in her mouth - appeared to be gleefully dreaming up something explosive and distasteful. I shot her a whatever-you're-thinking-please-reconsider look. Getting the hint, she swallowed and said in an ever-so-innocent voice, "Mmmm...pasta and water! My favorite!" I said mostly under my breath, "Where did you learn to be so sassy?" Katherine shot back matter-of-factly (and not at all under her breath), "In sassy school!"
