At dinner last night we were discussing future careers for Katherine. She consistently reports that she wants to be an artist when she grows up, and Scott consistently discusses with her the economic pros and cons of such a path. Last night, I was facilitating the conversation:
Me: How do you think artists make their money?
K: They make their art and sell it for money.
Me: So how do artists get famous enough that people know about their art and want to buy it?
K: They get famous from making so much money from their art.
Me: [pause - okay, new direction] Okay, name an artist for me.
K: Katherine!
Scott told K that with that attitude she was bound for success!
